LykoClean Smart Kitchen Composter will produce a fine, dry, brown, odorless pre-compost in 2-8 hours. Pre-compost is very similar to compost, with the main difference being that the heating and drying process kills bacteria that may be present in traditional compost. However, pre-compost can still be used to top-dress plants as fertilizers.

Although there is no minimum amount with our 2.5L compost bin, you cannot fill the compost bin past the max fill line indicator. The smaller the amount of waste, the faster the cycle will complete. Overfilling the compost bin may result in inconsistent and incomplete finished product, and may even cause damage to LykoClean.

A cycle may take anywhere from 2-8 hours, depending on the amount and type of food waste. The composter will automatically enter Storage Mode once the cycle is complete so you do not have to remove the finished pre-compost as soon as you can.

The activated charcoal filter can last from 1-3 months, depending on usage. For best results, replace every month, or as needed (whenever you start to notice odors coming from the composter).

No. The activated charcoal filter DOES NOT have sensors to monitor the lifecycle of the filter. Replace every 1-3 months, or when you start to notice odors.

To clean the exterior, gently wipe down exterior surfaces with a soft damp cloth. Remove excess moisture before use. To remove stubborn grime, add a small amount of dish soap to the cloth and dry. DO NOT immerse your unit in water or liquids. Discard excess moisture in the drip tray. 

To clean the compost bin, remove all particles and blockages after removing the bin from the composter. Wash the bin with warm water and a small amount of dish soap. Completely air dry before replacing it into the composter.
